Flavor First
It's the terpenes, not just the THC.
Terpenes are the aromatic oils that give cannabis its smell and flavor: citrus, gas, pine, berry, dessert. They're why two strains at the same potency can feel worlds apart. Here are the ones you'll meet most on our shelf.
MyrceneEarthy · mango
The most common terpene in cannabis. Customers often describe myrcene-forward profiles as earthy, fruit-sweet, and common in richer indica-leaning strains.
Found in: Blue Slushie
LimoneneBright · citrus
Sharp citrus on the nose: lemon, orange, grapefruit. Customers often use bright or zesty to describe limonene-forward aroma and flavor.
Found in: Lemon Icee
PineneFresh · pine
Crisp, woodsy, like a walk through a Maine forest. The pine note you catch in a lot of classic kush and gas-forward cultivars.
Found in: Silver Kush
CaryophyllenePeppery · gas
Spicy, peppery, a little funky. The backbone of the gassy, diesel-leaning strains a lot of regulars seek out by name.
Found in: Grape Gas
Product Formats
Know what is in the package.
Formats differ in ingredients, packaging, and label instructions. Use the current menu and package label as your source of truth.
01
Read every label
Check the cannabinoid information, serving details, ingredients, allergens, package date, and required warnings before purchase or use.
02
Compare formats
Flower, pre-rolls, concentrates, vapes, beverages, and edibles are packaged and labeled differently. Ask the store team to explain the format and label.
03
Store it securely
Keep cannabis in its original labeled package and secure it away from children, pets, and anyone who should not access it.
04
Follow the package
Use only as directed on the package. Do not rely on a general website guide in place of product-specific instructions.
Common Questions
Asked often.
For store-specific questions, start with the location page and current menu for the shop you plan to visit.
Do I need a medical card to shop at JAR?
For our adult-use stores, no. If you're 21 or older with a valid government photo ID, you can shop. Our Windham medical location serves registered patients under Maine's medical program and has its own menu and rules.
What ID do I need to bring?
Bring a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID. Check the location page for any store-specific credential requirements, including Windham Medical.
Can I order online and pick up?
Choose your JAR location first. If online ordering is available, use that store's current menu and follow the pickup instructions shown in the ordering flow.
Does a higher THC percentage mean it's better?
Not necessarily. THC percentage tells you potency, not quality. Terpenes, the aromatic oils behind a strain's aroma and flavor, and how the flower was grown matter just as much. Tell a budtender what you like and we will help you compare options without chasing a number.
Where do I find product instructions?
Read the full package label and follow its directions. Store teams can explain label fields and formats, but this site does not provide individualized dosing guidance.
Does JAR grow cannabis in Maine?
JAR has cultivation roots in Maine. Store menus can also include products from other Maine businesses, so check the current item details for the product you are considering.
Where can I check current rules?
Use current government and store sources for legal or regulatory questions. Website education is general information, not legal advice.
